There are a lot of LEPs out there, but we aim to be distinctive in our approach. We may be a small LEP covering a largely rural area, but that doesn't stop us being ambitious.
Take for example the closure of the regional Business Link services. This left a gap in the support available, with businesses particularly disappointed with the loss of face to face advice and support. We see a strong role here for the existing business networks and membership organisations to fill the gap, and have been working with them to enable this to happen.
To promote our plans we got together representatives of some of the key business groups in the area, not to mention newly announced Business Personality of the Year, LEP Board Member Shaun Watts (seen above checking the hoses on his plasma ray) for a photocall with a difference.
The resulting image had the intended result of getting us talked about in a different manner from your usual public/private partnership. The Yorkshire Post Business Diary poked some gentle fun in our direction, whilst PR week named it photo of the week. Quite a coup for a little LEP from Yorkshire.
