We want to help people who have an ambition to improve and grow their businesses.
We have a micro and small business based economy. Future growth in our economy depends on helping the people running them improve and grow to remain competetive and provide jobs.
We are not primarily providers of business support, there are many other organisations better positioned to do that. Our role is to help them do their job better, sometimes by helping them access funds to provide advice and support, or by helping business people understand how business support can benefit them, and who is best placed to help.

We have pioneered the concept of Popup Business Cafes. They are our way of helping businesses who wouldn’t normally attend a business conference or networking event get the support they need. We work with business organisations and groups in our towns and villages to provide a temporary and informal setting where business experts volunteer their time to sit down and provide free advice to the people who need it.
Expanding on the model, we have established a Growth Hub called ‘How’s Business’ that does much the same as our Popups, but online.
In 2014, we ran the Business Grant Programme. The programme provided businesses with up to 20% of their capital costs in grants ranging from £5,000 to £1m. By offering grants from £5,000, we made the programme accessible to small and micro businesses with modest growth plans.
