Apprenticeships are increasing popular within the YNYER region. They support young people and adults to secure a lifetime of sustained skilled employment and meet the needs of our growing and changing economy.

Businesses of all sizes see apprenticeships as an opportunity to recruit individuals to gain employability and trade skills whilst also utilising the training to develop their staff with 20% off the job training.

Apprenticeships assist the economic growth within the region as they boost skills and productivity.  Businesses are increasingly offering higher level apprenticeships, which can equal degree and master levels to retain skilled and talented individuals within the local area.

Individuals who are already in employment can undertake an apprenticeship enhancing their skills and qualifications.  Businesses recruiting new roles choose to look towards apprenticeships as they provide the training to meet the standards needed to suit the job role.

Employer’s Apprenticeship Toolkit

An online, interactive employers’ apprenticeship toolkit, developed in partnership with Humber LEP has been designed for businesses already engaging with apprenticeships as well as those that are just beginning their apprenticeship journey.

The content provides in-depth information for employers about on how to maximise apprenticeship funding, navigate the apprenticeship levy and gives guidance to improving apprenticeship recruitment and retention, signposting to local and national resources.

By employing apprentices or investing in apprenticeship training for existing staff, businesses of any size can address their skills gaps and meet their growth aspirations.
