Creating a carbon neutral circular economy needs all sectors of our society and economy to make exciting new products, innovate in existing processes and encourage behavioural shifts. However big the opportunity, change will always contain an element of risk, with financial risk being a barrier to many green innovations. Below is a flavour of the finance options that are available to support your business, organisation or community group to make a move into a carbon neutral circular economy.

Public sector organisations

Salix Finance provides interest-free Government funding to the public sector to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and lower energy bills.

The non-domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) helps businesses, public sector and non-profit organisations meet the cost of installing renewable heat technologies.


SMEs and Industry

REBiz provides advice and financial support for SMEs who want to boost their business and protect the environment by becoming more resource efficient and incorporating circular economy practices into their business.

The Biorenewables Development Centre (BDC) offer pre-funded projects for local businesses in or expanding into the bioeconomy, consisting of 1-2 days of specialised advice and testing to help companies develop new and innovative products.

The Office for Low Emissions Vehicles (OLEV) offers funding to support the up-front costs of the purchase and installation of electric vehicle charge-points, for eligible businesses, charities and public sector organisations.


Community organisations

The Rural Community Energy Fund (RCEF) supports rural communities to develop renewable energy projects that provide economic and social benefits to the community.

The Key Fund are a flexible and supportive lender and grant provider for social enterprises and community groups, who have a focus on eco-initiatives.


Innovation funding

The Government’s commitment to the Industrial Strategy’s Clean Growth agenda is generating innovation support across a wide range of sectors, including transforming food production and construction, and prospering from the energy revolution.
