The LEP is consulting on proposals to provide a £6.0m investment towards reinstating the highway at A19 Chapel Haddlesey. The scheme will also provide enhanced flood protection which will help mitigate impacts from future flooding events.
The A19 is a key strategic road between Selby and the M62, and has been closed at Chapel Haddlesey since February 2020 as a result of flooding events which caused significant damage to the carriageway. There are currently diversion routes in place, which add significant distance and time to journeys in the area, particularly for HGV movements.
A decision on whether to fund this scheme will be taken by the LEP infrastructure board on the 3rd September 2020.
