£8 Million Boost for Growth of Food and Rural Businesses

£8 MILLION worth of grants are available to grow food and rural tourism businesses in York, North Yorkshire and East Riding. The grants are for businesses to invest in food processing and tourism infrastructure projects.

They are part of the government’s overall £120m Rural Development Programme for England being managed by the Rural Payments Agency working with local enterprise partnerships. It is one way that we are developing the local economy by helping businesses to start up and grow.

Neighbouring LEPs in Humber and Leeds City Region are also issuing calls for these grants, so applicants in the overlapping LEP areas of the East Riding, Craven, Harrogate, Selby and York should explore all options available as each LEP is offering grants for slightly different types of activity.

Applications for grants can be made at any time up until midnight on 31 January 2018. However, applications will be appraised on a rolling basis, so the sooner an application is submitted, the sooner it can be appraised and progressed.

There is a handbook covering each type of grant which applicants should read before completing an Expression of Interest. This and further information is here.
