A Plan to Reshape our Economy: Pledge #929 October 2020
With the increase in remote working opportunities, the importance of the quality of places, or their ‘liveability’, becomes more important. However, 75% of new housing could be considered mediocre or poor and should never have been built according to research by the Place Alliance.
New housing adapts to changing needs in terms of design, affordability etc.
- Repurpose high street, city and town centre buildings
- Developing a Better Homes Design Guide – ‘Quality in Place and Design: a guide for York & North Yorkshire’
- Delivery of a Housing retro fit Programme
- Town Centre living Programme
Clean, connected and affordable housing.
Work to deliver this pledge has already begun. In their response to the pandemic, investment decisions and plans for the future, places, businesses, and organisations across the region are already reshaping towards a greener, fairer, stronger future. Check out the case studies below and on our website.
