A Plan to Reshape our Economy: Pledge #9
29 October 2020Background:
With the increase in remote working opportunities, the importance of the quality of places, or their ‘liveability’, becomes more important. However, 75% of new housing could be considered mediocre or poor and should never have been built according to research by the Place Alliance.
Our Pledge:
New housing adapts to changing needs in terms of design, affordability etc.
Our Actions:
- Repurpose high street, city and town centre buildings
- Developing a Better Homes Design Guide – ‘Quality in Place and Design: a guide for York & North Yorkshire’
- Delivery of a Housing retro fit Programme
- Town Centre living Programme
Outcome:
Clean, connected and affordable housing.
