Applications Open for Rural Projects following European Funding

Applications for funding are now open for employment and capital projects in our rural areas following £2.336m from Europe.

The North York Moors National Park Authority secured the grant until 2020 as part of its North York Moors, Coast and Hills LEADER Programme.

The grant covers projects in the following areas that have the following themes:

North York Moors National Park, Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Vale of Pickering, the Heritage Coast from Filey to Saltburn, the Hambleton Hills and East Cleveland.

Farm productivity
Micro and Small Enterprise and Farm Diversification
Rural Tourism; and
Forestry Productivity

The LEADER Programme is a partnership of private, public and voluntary sector interests working to support the rural area’s local economy. The partnership are looking for capital investments in activities, projects, enterprises and facilities which will deliver economic benefits, particularly new employment opportunities. It is aiming to address local needs with innovative solutions tailored specifically to the market.

The first deadline for Outline Applications is 5 April 2016. Full details, eligibility criteria, guidance documents and the Outline Application Form can be found on the LEADER Programme website – www.moorscoastandhills.org.uk.

All grant applications received will be overseen by the LEADER Executive Group, comprising representatives from the private sector and voluntary enterprises along with the NYMNPA, North Yorkshire County Council and Local Authorities.

LEADER stands for Liaison Entre Actions de Développement de l’Économie Rurale which means Links between the rural economy and development actions.
