Coastal businesses collaborate to deliver innovative online delivery solution to respond to COVID-19
Yorkshire in Business and Yorkshire Coast BID are joining forces with the multi-award winning digital platform ShopAppy.com to enable local communities to support their local businesses and shop local, safely from home.
The ShopAppy.com platform will be used by businesses in the Yorkshire Coast region to sell their products and special packages in one place online. This will be a lifeline for local businesses, allowing them to keep trading during lockdown and for the local community, this will give them access to critical provisions when the message from Government and the NHS is “Stay at home. Safe lives”.
So, how will this work? People can make purchases from local independent shops and restaurants via the website or they can buy E-vouchers to use at a later date from service-based businesses like hairdressers, beauty salons, restaurants, bars and cafes. Businesses can gain 3 months’ free use of the platform and with backing from Yorkshire Coast BID, levy paying businesses can receive 12 months’ free subscription.
Jenn Crowther, Chief Executive, at Yorkshire in Business says: “On Monday this week businesses saw a decline in customers overnight, causing a huge amount of uncertainty and concern about their future, many of whom were not prepared. We have expanded our support to businesses on the ground to cope with increased demand and feel that this platform is a great opportunity for businesses to reach customers during this time.”
Kerry Carruthers, Chief Executive, at Yorkshire Coast BID comments: “Our role is to support our business members and promote the coast. We have acted quickly to get this partnership with ShopAppy.com off the ground and support the general public with supplies from the Yorkshire Coast’s amazing independents straight to their door.
