Future Circular Towns and Communities
19 November 2020Future Circular Towns & Communities Event- 19 Nov 2020
Hosted by York & North Yorkshire LEP, this event explored how practically towns and communities can adopt circular economy practices within the built environment.
Katie Thomas, Senior Strategy Lead for Low Carbon and Circular Economy talked about Circular Yorkshire; a campaign to bring together all stakeholders in the region to accelerate our transformation towards a circular economy and what activities were taking place as part of November’s Circular Yorkshire Month.
We heard from Michael Jones of City of York Council on their zero carbon housing programme, dubbed in the national press as the “UK’s most ambitious council-led housing programme in a generation”.
We were also joined by Neil Taylor from the sustainable transport planning and research consultancy ITP to demonstrate how better places can be created by prioritising active transport.
Finally, we were joined by Charlotte Banks from the APSE Energy team to explore what local authorities can practically do to reduce emissions, increase sustainability and promote the sharing economy across their towns and communities.
You can access the recording of the webinar here and also read the presentations shared on the day.
