Grow Yorkshire helps the farming community plan and adapt to the challenges of COVID1919 October 2020
To help the farming community plan and adapt to the challenges brought on by the COVID 19 pandemic, Grow Yorkshire worked with partners to engage farm businesses in support.
Grow Yorkshire delivered advice as part of a business continuity planning webinar with the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board. The webinar supported farmers to develop contingency plans for challenges such as the pandemic and the upcoming EU Transition.
Grow Yorkshire also worked with the York and North Yorkshire Growth Hub to bring farmers the opportunity to sign up free for a year to an online market place, ShopAppy. The aim of the project was to help farmers connect with local retailers and restaurants and sell direct to consumers, capitalising on the opportunity of increased consumer demand for localised food retail options. The project also aimed to introduce farming businesses to the use of digital technology to build business resilience and diversification.
