Help Us Collect Evidence for Improving the A64
Help us build an evidence for improvements to the A64 by sending us your case studies.
On July 7th the launch of the A64 Growth Partnership at NAFIC, Sandhutton, demonstrated the broad support of organisations calling for major improvements to the A64.
Businesses, communities, politicians and councils came together to direct a united voice towards the Government, to deliver the much needed improvements to reduce the roads congestion and safety problems east of York.
The event was well received by media, but we can’t stop there. It is our collective task to maintain pressure on Government to deliver the improvements we need. Help us, by submitting your case studies and evidence as to why work on this important route needs to happen.
Achieving our goal will require collective determination and persistence – given the fact that the campaign is likely to last years. In this time we are eager to assemble a strong evidence base of the detrimental impacts to local business growth and nearby communities, as a result of the road’s current status. Such evidence will be key to constructing a compelling case to Ministers and to Highways England during proceeding consultations on the A64 and investment priorities.
In order to help us do this, we ask you to submit your case studies and personal experiences of the problems caused by the A64, by completing one of these short case study forms. Your information will be used in a variety of ways to support the case. We would also be very appreciative if you could forward this message to other interested parties and businesses who you think might also like to contribute to the campaign by lending their voice.
We are also seeking video footage with which we can add to a film which will be shown at the event, kindly funded by Ryedale District Council, McCain Food, Capita, Sirius Minerals, North Yorkshire County Council and Scarborough Borough Council.
We would like to remind you to continue lending your voice online using the #A6justdualit hashtag, where we welcome your tweets, views and photos regarding the need to invest in the A64. At this time of year the traffic levels on this route are at their peak, so it poses an excellent opportunity for businesses and commuters to showcase the problems and dangers caused during high traffic.
The York Press are also running a petition which we encourage you to sign, which calls for the dualling of the A64 east of York and the A1273 York Outer Ring Road.
In the meantime you can find the A64 Growth Partnership page on the LEP’s website, where we will continue to develop and update our progress and presence.
