How can your business benefit from the circular economy?

To celebrate the start of Circular Yorkshire month this November, York & North Yorkshire Growth Hub hosted a free webinar to explore practical steps that can be taken by businesses to help them benefit from the circular economy.

Speakers included:

Katie Thomas, Low Carbon & Environment Senior Strategy Manager, York & North Yorkshire LEP  explained what circular economy is all about, how it is key to achieving our region’s economic and environmental ambitions, and introduced the new ‘Circular Economy: 6 Benefits to Business’ e-guides which can be downloaded from here.

Wave Crookes, Operations Director, Seagrown, shared their story about setting up the country’s first seaweed farm in the North Sea and how being circular is at the heart of their business.

Chris Jaume, Co-Founder and Director, Cooper King Distillery, talked about their award-winning sustainable spirits business, powered by 100% green energy and a lot of creativity and enthusiasm for all things circular.

Rob Wilson , Director from Toast Ale showed how they are fighting food waste by turning surplus bread into beer, creating a distinctive and successful brand, whilst saving the planet one beer at a time.

All attendees were signposted to our brand new ‘Circular Economy: 6 Benefits to Business’ guides, developed with our partners at the FSB, CBI and West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce. These are full of practical advice and information about making simple changes within your business and can be downloaded here..

You can access the webinar recording and read the presentations shared from here. Apologies, but we didn’t quite press the ‘record’ button from the start so you will see this starts a few minutes after the webinar began ☺.
