Key Employers Pledge Support for Scarborough Schools
The YNYER Enterprise Partnership, Careers Enterprise Company (CEC) and Department for Education have brought together key Scarborough employers and schools to inspire young people about the exciting careers available to them in the local labour market.
As part of Scarborough Engineering Week, the LEP and CEC hosted a workshop to encourage key employers to pledge time and support to local schools and colleges. The aim of the event was to enhance the careers information and advice available to young people on the North Yorkshire Coast and create awareness of the many training and job opportunities available locally. Amongst the employers who pledged their support were Sirius Minerals and Dale Power Solutions.
“Enabling young people to make informed decisions for their future and inspiring them to take advantage of the opportunities across our area is a real priority for us.’’ said Annabel Jelley, Head of Skills.
‘’Scarborough Engineering week is a fantastic opportunity for schools, businesses, young people and their parents to demonstrate how science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) can make a difference in the real world. It empowers young people to take control of their future promoting careers in engineering and the local progression routes available.
