LEP Chair to be declared High Sheriff
We are delighted to announce that our York & North Yorkshire LEP Chair, David Kerfoot MBE, DL will be officially declared High Sheriff of North Yorkshire at a ceremony on Friday 3rd April at midday.
The Office of High Sheriff is an independent, non-political Royal appointment for a single year and central to this role is supporting crime prevention agencies, the emergency services and the voluntary sector.
We offer our congratulations to David in this appointment which recognises the importance of his achievements in and commitment to the region.
The Declaration Ceremony will be taking place tomorrow at 12:00 noon with Judge, Chair of the Magistrates, Under Sheriff of North Yorkshire, the Dean of Ripon Cathedral, current High Sheriff Linda Fenwick and barrister, being connected by video conference.
This will create history in our region by doing it this way for the first time ever in 1000 years of the Shrievalty – it would normally be held at the Assizes in York.
