29 September 2020York & North Yorkshire LEP responds to government announcements today on a major expansion of post-18 education and training
The government has announced today significant changes to post-18 education and training to prepare workers for a post-COVID economy.
Chair of the Skills and Employability Board for the Y & NY LEP, Sam Alexander commented:
“We welcome today’s announcement from government about its plans to level up the economy, focusing on post-18 education and training.
In York & North Yorkshire, we see skills development as a critical element to create a Fairer, Greener, Stronger economy post COVID-19. Young people and older workers will need to gain new skills, upskill and reskill to make the most of good employment opportunities.
As always, the devil is in the detail, so we are keen to understand exactly how this support will be delivered to benefit our businesses and communities.”
