LEP statement on Biovale Centre
The York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Enterprise Partnership are working with the University of York, and Leeds City Region LEP, to establish a better understanding of the market demand for the facilities provided by the proposed Biovale Centre.
This involves the commissioning of an independent Market Assessment, which will answer three fundamental questions:
- What is the demand for the facilities offered by the Centre?
- What is the appropriate price structure for the Centre?
- How will the Centre compete against existing local, national and international facilities that could also meet market demand?
The answers to these questions, together with the already clearly defined strong strategic rationale, will determine the balance between risk and reward of investing public funds in the Centre.
The proposal will be reconsidered by the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding LEP Board when the independent Market Assessment has been delivered.
All parties remain committed to realising the potential of the region’s bioeconomy, a diverse sector which includes the growing of crops, and the recycling of bio wastes, to produce valuable food, fuel, products and materials.
