New boundaries go live
01 April 2020Our updated brand of York & North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (Y&NY LEP) has come into being to comply with government guidelines, which state LEPs will not retain any overlapping boundaries with other LEPs. The Y&NY LEP now covers eight areas: Craven, Hambleton, Harrogate, Richmond, Ryedale, Scarborough, Selby and York.
The move was ratified in January by the LEP board, when we were still known as the York, North Yorkshire & East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership. Collaboration agreements with neighbouring LEPs – Leeds City Region and Humber LEP – are being developed. These set out plans for future working and investments.
LEPs work with public and private sector partners to deliver economic growth across their respective areas. For Y&NY LEP, this includes supporting businesses through the York & North Yorkshire Growth Hub – which was previously known as ‘How’s Business’. The Y&NY LEP is also creating a skilled local workforce, investing in infrastructure to unlock housing and employment sites and improve connectivity, and growing a specialist sector – the bioeconomy.
