Statement: Reaction to £15.4m funding allocation03 July 2020
Responding to news of Government allocating £15.4m to the LEP to help economic recovery, David Kerfoot MBE DL, chair of York & North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership, said:
“We’re delighted to receive an allocation of £15.4m from Government to help the York and North Yorkshire economy recover from COVID-19 and grow. We believe our local economy can become greener, fairer and stronger and transform how we live, learn, work and visit in our region. In line with that ambition, we have identified a number of ‘shovel ready’ projects which could potentially receive funding and these include digital infrastructure, improving skills in green technologies and creating jobs through developing new business parks. Once final funding decisions are made, there will be a range of projects in place which will deliver a positive impact for our area.”
Since 2014, the York & North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership has overseen an investment fund of more than £230m. Funding has been committed to a broad range of projects across business, infrastructure and skills in the region.
