Responsible for leading housing and strategic planning matters for the LEP, Julian works with local authorities and other partners to drive up house building rates and growth across our area. This includes unblocking major schemes, closer partnership working to deliver strategic development and bringing forward initiatives to help meet our housing and economic needs.
A chartered town planner by background, Julian is passionate about the positive change that good development can bring. He broadened his career to promote growth and improvement of place and has 25 years’ experience across economic development, housing, planning policy and transport in both local authority and local enterprise partnership environments. Julian has been part of a District Council Management Team for over ten years, including acting as Assistant Chief Executive, and is still Head of Economy and Infrastructure at Ryedale District Council in addition to his LEP role.
A Yorkshire lad and York resident, Julian is heavily involved in the local community through his role as Vice-Chair of York Pride and enjoys as much travel as he can manage, never-ending house renovations and regular monitoring of the quality of local pubs and restaurants.
